Feldenkrais said, in trainings and public workshops, the physical experiences people usually report after lessons are actually collateral benefits of the ATM process. He viewed these as really trivial relative to what is possible through his work. The real genius of ATM manifests when lessons illuminate for us how we truly act. In those moments we feel our sense of self, and the trajectory of our life, to be changing. Crafted to foster self-knowledge through unflinchingly honest self-observation, ATM aims to awaken in us our capacity to act and choose freely, in accord with our own intentions. Taking on ATM as a personal practice, we commit sincerely to a longitudinal process of self-development. It is then that we catch sight of the more profound consequences of Feldenkrais’s lessons. In this 2-day ATM-based postgraduate course you will experience and reflect upon some of the processes used in ATM to disrupt habits of behaviour, perturb the self-image, and promote alternate ways of being and acting in the world.
Zoran Kovich MSc Feldenkrais Method trainer & educational director Zoran commenced practicing somatic education methods in 1982, learning the work of Mabel Todd for 3 years whilst studying dance at the Victorian College of the Arts. 37 years later he is still passionate about learning and teaching embodiment practices. He has lectured in university performing arts programs since 1990. From 1999-2001 he was co-researcher in a world-first, government funded study, ‘The Somdance Project’, investigating how somatic education processes may be integrated into contemporary dance training. In 2014 Zoran was certified Feldenkrais trainer, and is currently educational co-director of the SEAus 2 and 3 Feldenkrais trainings.
