Norman Doige in his recent book The Brain’s way of Healing, observes that “Feldenkrais was one of the first neuroplasticians.”
In this workshop you will have the chance to gain an understanding of:
- what the Feldenkrais Method is
- the difference between a somatic-based learning approach versus therapeutic body work
- how the method may benefit all people
- the fundamentals present in Awareness Through Movement lessons
At an experiential level, you will discover
- how improving attention and awareness can lead to improvements in movement quality, sensory perception, problem solving and body (self) image
- ‘doing to understand’
Based on Dr Moshe Feldenkrais’ popular book Awareness Through Movement, this innovative new program offers an engaging and practical introduction to the Feldenkrais Method.
During these 4 days you will have the chance to engage deeply with the basic ideas and concepts of the work. You will immerse yourself in Awareness Through Movement – giving you a much clearer appreciation of your own capacity to move with ease and elegance. Through following the movements of your colleagues with your eyes and hands you will also gain a greater understanding of the range of human movement. As each informs the other, you will discover useful ways of expanding your range of comfort, learn skills to take back into your workplace and gain insights to what is possible when you start from the premise that everyone can improve.
This program is ideal as a stand-alone personal or professional development opportunity or as your entry into a professional Practitioner Training Program. Credit for attendance may be carried in to the next Professional Training program.
